Unitel Voice Review (2026): A Simple Business Phone for Solo Owners
You want to sound like an established company when a client calls, without buying hardware or paying an IT person. I set up Unitel Voice on camera, got a professional greeting recorded, and re-checked every plan for 2026, because the pricing has changed since my video.

In today's world, when every company is replacing people with AI chat bots, this is honestly really rare.

How I tested Unitel Voice
I signed up for Unitel Voice and walked through the setup on camera for the video above: picking a number, adding extensions and departments, and setting a greeting. I also ordered the professional voice recording for my own line. Then on October 19, 2026, I re-checked every plan and price on Unitel Voice's signup page, since the plans have changed since the video went live.
What is Unitel Voice?
Unitel Voice is a virtual phone system built for entrepreneurs and small business owners. You pick a business number, and calls to it ring on your current cell phone, home phone or whatever device you choose. There's no extra hardware, so you download the app and start making and receiving calls right away.
More than 10,000 businesses use it. Unitel Voice does phone, and it does phone really well. It isn't trying to be a full contact center or a CRM.
Who Unitel Voice is for (and who it isn't for)
Most solopreneurs don't want a complicated VoIP system. You don't want hardware, and you don't want an IT person coming out just to set up your phone. What you need is a business number, voicemail, call routing, business hours and a clean experience when someone calls you.
Pick Unitel Voice if:
You want to keep business calls separate from personal calls on one phone
You want a toll-free or vanity number for nationwide credibility
You'd rather talk to a real person than file a support ticket
You might add desk phones for a small office later
Look elsewhere if:
You need a call center with dialers, call queues and deep analytics
You want texting to work on day one. Text registration can take up to 10 business days.
You only need a free personal second number and don't care about support
What sets Unitel Voice apart
1. US-based support with real humans
Unitel Voice has a US-based support team, and real people pick up the phone. This is what delighted me most in the whole experience. You're not bouncing around ticket systems or waiting three days for an email.
Look, when every company is replacing people with AI chatbots, this is honestly really rare. Support is available by phone or chat on every plan.
2. A professional voice recording on every plan
Every Unitel Voice plan includes a free professional greeting from its Voice Talent Studio, with human or AI voices. This one caught me off guard, and it became one of my favorite features. Grasshopper charged about $75 per recording at the time of the video.
You get a custom recording that sounds legit and matches your business within a few days. I paid $25 extra for mine because I wanted a British accent, and it came back in about two or three days. And that means you sound like an established company from your first call.
3. A one-on-one onboarding call
New customers get a one-on-one onboarding call with a dedicated account manager. Most people don't even know this exists. They ask how you want your calls handled, who they go to and what the extensions are, and set it up while you're on the phone with them.
They'll also show you around the tool and answer your questions, so you're comfortable with the whole caller experience from start to finish.
4. Room to grow into desk phones
When you outgrow your cell phone, the Office plan adds desk phones that Unitel Voice configures and ships to you. The phones are sold at cost and arrive set up, ready to plug in. You don't need an IT person, so you're not locked into a starter tool with no room to scale.
Unitel Voice features
Beyond those four, you get the essentials:
Call forwarding to any phone or device
Business hours scheduling, so calls route differently after hours
Voicemail with optional transcription
Custom greetings
Employee and department extensions
A mobile app to run everything on the go
Number porting if you already have a business number
Texting, after a one-time carrier registration
How to set up Unitel Voice
Setup takes minutes, not days:
Choose your number. This is my favorite part. Pick a local number with the area code you want, a toll-free number, or a vanity number that matches your brand.
Add extensions for each team member.
Set up departments, like sales or support.
Customize your greeting, and your line is live.
There's no hardware to wait for and no complicated configuration. If you want help with any of it, the onboarding team will set it up with you. One note: custom vanity numbers can take one to three business days to activate.

Unitel Voice pricing (checked October 19, 2026)
Unitel Voice has three plans: Solo at $9.99 a month, Team at $19.99 and Office at $29.99, with unlimited minutes on all of them. Paying yearly drops those to $84, $168 and $252 a year, which works out to $6.99, $13.99 and $20.99 a month.
Plan | Monthly billing | Yearly billing | Users | What it adds |
Solo | $9.99/mo | $84/yr ($6.99/mo) | 1 | One toll-free or local number, unlimited minutes, free voice recording, US support |
Team | $19.99/mo | $168/yr ($13.99/mo) | Listed as unlimited | Live call transfer, unlimited voicemail boxes |
Office | $29.99/mo | $252/yr ($20.99/mo) | 3 included | Desktop softphone, VoIP desk phones, team presence, team messaging |
Prices from Unitel Voice's signup page, US dollars. Confirm before you buy, since pricing changes.
A few details to know:
Extra users are listed at $9.99 per user per month on Team and Office.
Texting needs a one-time $19.50 registration and a $1.50 monthly compliance fee. Unitel Voice says carriers charge these, not Unitel Voice.
Extra numbers, call recording and conference calling are add-ons, with prices not listed on the signup page.
What changed since my video
When I recorded the video, the entry plan was called Startup: $9.99 a month for 500 minutes and three users. The plan to move up to was Unlimited at $24.99. Today, Solo keeps the $9.99 price with unlimited minutes but covers one user, and Team at $19.99 is the step up for a small team.
Here's the yearly math. Solo on monthly billing costs $119.88 a year. Pay yearly and it's $84, which saves you $35.88 before my 30% discount on annual plans.
Unitel Voice vs Grasshopper vs Google Voice
The main Unitel Voice alternatives for a solo business are Grasshopper and Google Voice.
Tool | Starting price | Toll-free numbers | Support | Pick it if |
$9.99/mo ($84/yr) | Yes | US-based phone and chat | You want a professional line with human help
From $14/mo | Yes | Check current plans | You're already set on Grasshopper's apps
$10/user/mo (Starter) | No | Limited | You already run your business on Google Workspace |
Unitel Voice vs Grasshopper
Grasshopper plans start at $14 a month. At the time of my video, a professional voice recording cost about $75 extra, extensions were $3 a month each, and the free trial was seven days. Unitel Voice gives you 30 days to get your money back, and nothing compares to its US-based support. It doesn't feel like software you're using. It feels like an extension of your team.
For a deeper look at Grasshopper against another option, see my Quo vs Grasshopper comparison.
Unitel Voice vs Google Voice
Google Voice's personal plan is free, which is hard to compete with, but it isn't built for business. Google Voice for business starts at $10 per user per month on Starter, $20 on Standard and $30 on Premier, and most of those plans sit on top of a Google Workspace subscription. The bigger catch: Google Voice doesn't offer toll-free numbers, so an 800 number simply isn't an option.
If you want more options, I ranked five Google Voice alternatives and covered the top VoIP services for growing teams.
Pros and cons
Pros:
Real, US-based humans on the phone when you need help
A free professional greeting recording on every plan
One-on-one onboarding with an account manager
Unlimited minutes, even on the $9.99 Solo plan
Local, toll-free and vanity numbers, plus porting
A clear path to desk phones without hiring IT
A 30-day money-back guarantee
Cons:
Solo covers one user, so a team of two needs Team
Texting needs carrier registration fees and up to 10 business days for approval
Add-ons like call recording and extra numbers don't show prices upfront
No call-center tools like power dialers or deep call analytics
Accent and voice upgrades on the greeting can cost extra
My final take
If you're a solopreneur or small business who wants a phone that just works, keeps business calls separate from personal calls, makes you sound professional and comes with support that actually helps, I recommend Unitel Voice. You start at under $10 a month, get a professional greeting, and have 30 days to try it.
