Flodesk Review 2026: Features, Pricing and Who It's For
Most email platforms make your brand squeeze into their templates. Flodesk flips that around, so your fonts and colors shape every email, form and sales page. I went through the design engine, automations, forms, checkout and the new Flodesk Studio to see who it really fits.

How I tested Flodesk
I went through Flodesk on camera for the video above: the email builder and templates, workflows, the eight form types, Flodesk Checkout and the new Flodesk Studio app. I then re-checked every plan and price on Flodesk's own pricing page on October 18, 2026. The open rate, deliverability and conversion numbers in this post are Flodesk's own reported figures, not results from my list.
What is Flodesk?
Flodesk is an email marketing platform built around design, for small businesses, solopreneurs and creators. Most email platforms make your brand fit into their templates. Flodesk works the other way around. Your fonts (yes, you can upload custom ones), your colors and your visual identity shape every email, form and sales page you build.
It does more than email, too. You get workflows, automations, forms, landing pages, a checkout and analytics in one account. Flodesk says more than 100,000 businesses use it.
One thing changed recently. Flodesk used to be known for one flat price with unlimited subscribers. It retired that plan for new members on December 2, 2025, and pricing now scales with your active subscriber count. Members who were already paying before that date keep their legacy unlimited plan.
Who Flodesk is for (and who it isn't for)
Flodesk fits brand-driven small businesses that want email to look as good as their website. That covers photographers, wedding vendors, coaches, consultants, influencers and creators like me. It also works for Shopify and Squarespace stores, course creators and local businesses like a therapist, a gym, a salon or a dentist that build a list from in-person traffic.
Pick Flodesk if:
Your brand look matters and generic templates make your emails feel off
You sell courses, templates, services or subscriptions and want to skip platform fees
You collect subscribers from Instagram and don't have a website yet
You want flat pricing without a long list of add-ons
Look elsewhere if:
You need SMS marketing alongside email. Look at Omnisend for that. Here's my Omnisend review.
You're a creator who wants a paid newsletter and a recommendation network. Kit is built for that. See my Kit review.
You need deep segmentation, lead scoring or a CRM for a sales team
Flodesk's key features
1. Brand-first email design
Flodesk's patented layout technology renders custom fonts and complex designs consistently across Gmail, Apple Mail, Outlook and mobile. Most platforms can't do that. It means your email feels like an extension of your site, not a generic template with your logo pasted on top.
Here's what the builder gives you:
A drag-and-drop editor with modern templates you restyle with your own fonts and colors
A built-in Canva integration
Countdown timers and embedded polls, with no third-party tool to pay for
Deep personalization, resend to unopens and link actions (link actions are one of my favorite features)
Subject line A/B testing. Write two versions, Flodesk sends both, and after 24 hours it sends the winner to the rest of your list.
Flodesk reports that its members average open rates between 36% and 47%, against an industry average of about 21%. It also reports a 98.4% platform-wide deliverability rate. Those are Flodesk's numbers, so treat them as a benchmark, not a promise for your list.
2. Workflows and automations
Flodesk workflows send emails automatically based on what your subscribers do. Automations are the difference between email being a chore you do on a Sunday night and email being an asset that works whether or not you're at your desk.
Flodesk supports:
Multi-trigger workflows
Split paths that rejoin naturally
Engagement-based conditions
Behavior triggers tied to Flodesk Checkout and to Shopify
Here's what that looks like in practice. Someone adds your course to their cart, gets distracted and leaves. Flodesk sends an abandoned cart sequence without you lifting a finger. Flodesk reports a 43% open rate and a 23% click rate on those cart emails, and says recovering a cart within the first hour lifts conversions by 20%.
You can also build journeys for freebie delivery, nurture series, coupon delivery, events, welcome series, post-purchase and re-engagement.
3. Eight form types, no website needed
Flodesk gives you eight types of forms, and none of them require a website. I know forms sound boring. But forms that connect to your email and look great drive more signups, and Flodesk says its forms convert at double the industry average.
The eight types:
Pop-ups
Inline forms
Full-page landing pages
Link in bio
Spin the wheel
Video forms
Countdown forms
Preference collection
If you're a coach with nothing but an Instagram profile, you can run a link-in-bio form, capture subscribers and never touch a website builder.

4. Flodesk Checkout with zero platform fees
Flodesk Checkout lets you sell products, services, subscriptions and digital goods straight from your email platform, with no platform fee. This is what turns an email list into an actual business.
What's included:
Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay
Buy now, pay later with Klarna, Affirm and Afterpay
One-click upsells
Automatic taxes through Stripe Tax
You pay Stripe's standard processing rate, and Flodesk adds nothing on top. That's the number to watch if you're comparing platforms. Gumroad, Podia and Kajabi plans can take a cut of every sale. If you sell a $200 template pack a couple of times a week, that difference adds up faster than you think.
Checkout is available on the Pro plan (one checkout, listed as a limited-time bonus) and the Everything plan (unlimited checkouts). Right now it's open to businesses in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Euro Area countries.
5. Flodesk Studio (new, free in beta)
Flodesk Studio is a separate AI app, launched June 30, 2026, that designs a full email from a short description. You add your brand once (colors, fonts and logo), then describe the email you want like you're having a conversation. Studio hands you three finished directions to choose from.
From there you can refine it by chatting, or jump into the manual builder and move things around. Every design Studio pulls from was first made by Flodesk's in-house design team. The AI applies your brand on top of real human design work instead of generating a layout out of thin air, which is why the results don't have that AI look.
An email that takes about two hours to build by hand comes together in minutes. You can send it from Flodesk or export the design to pretty much any other email provider. While it's in beta, Studio is free, and you don't need a Flodesk account to try it.
Flodesk pricing (checked October 18, 2026)
Flodesk pricing scales with your active subscriber count. At 1,000 subscribers, paid plans cost $19, $25 or $49 a month on annual billing ($25, $28 or $54 billed monthly), and there's a free plan.
Plan | Annual billing | Monthly billing | Subscriber cap | What you get |
Free | $0 | $0 | No limit | Forms, landing pages and link in bio. No email sending or workflows |
Lite | $19/mo | $25/mo | 25,000 | Unlimited sends, email analytics, 1 seat, 1 workflow (limited-time bonus) |
Pro | $25/mo | $28/mo | 255,000 | Unlimited workflows, advanced analytics, hide the Flodesk footer, 2 seats, 1 checkout (limited-time bonus) |
Everything | $49/mo | $54/mo | 255,000 | Unlimited checkouts, sales pages and funnels, subscriptions and payment plans, abandoned cart, 3 seats |
Paid prices shown for up to 1,000 active subscribers.
Prices from flodesk.com/pricing, US dollars. Confirm before you buy, since pricing changes.
Annual billing works out to one month free: you pay for 11 months instead of 12. Every new account also starts with a free trial of the paid features, with no credit card required. When it ends, you pick a plan or drop to the Free plan.
Treat the free plan as list building only, since it can't send email. Pro is Flodesk's most popular plan, and it's the one where checkout and unlimited workflows unlock. If abandoned cart emails matter to you, you'll need Everything.
What Flodesk costs as your list grows
Active subscribers | Lite (annual) | Pro (annual) | Everything (annual) |
1,000 | $19/mo | $25/mo | $49/mo |
2,500 | $29/mo | $35/mo | $79/mo |
5,000 | $48/mo | $54/mo | $99/mo |
10,000 | $66/mo | $72/mo | $126/mo |
25,000 | $149/mo | $155/mo | $236/mo |
Only active subscribers count. Unsubscribed, bounced and cleaned contacts don't, so a tidy list keeps your bill down. If you pass your tier, Flodesk moves you up at your next billing date, and your emails keep sending.
Pros and cons

Eight form types that work without a website

Cons:
The free plan can't send email
Lite allows only one workflow, and the Lite cap is 25,000 subscribers
Abandoned cart, subscriptions and unlimited checkouts require the Everything plan

Pricing now rises with your subscriber count, after Flodesk retired its flat unlimited plan in December 2025
No SMS marketing
Fewer advanced automation and segmentation tools than heavier platforms
Flodesk alternatives
The main Flodesk alternatives for small businesses are Kit and Omnisend. Kit leans toward creators and newsletters. Omnisend leans toward e-commerce stores that want email and SMS together.
Tool | Built for | Pick it if |
Brand-driven small businesses and creators | You want beautiful on-brand emails plus checkout with no platform fee | |
Kit | Creators and newsletter writers | You want paid newsletters and creator recommendations (Kit review) |
Omnisend | E-commerce stores | You run a Shopify store and want email and SMS in one place (Omnisend review) |
My final take
If your email needs to be beautiful, match your brand and feel like you, Flodesk is the way to go. The design engine is the reason it exists, and the checkout with zero platform fees makes it a real business tool, not only a newsletter app. Start on Pro at $25 a month if you plan to sell, and move up to Everything when abandoned cart emails start to matter.
If you need SMS or advanced segmentation, look at Omnisend or Kit instead.
