pdfFiller Review 2026: Features, Pricing and Adobe Comparison

Most small business owners pay for one tool to edit PDFs, another to collect signatures and a third to convert files. pdfFiller puts all of it in one browser tab. I walked through every feature on camera and checked what it costs against Adobe Acrobat today.

How I tested pdfFiller

I walked through pdfFiller on camera for the video above: the PDF editor, the AI document builder and template library, e-signatures and LinkToFill, storage and sharing, conversions, integrations, security and support. I then checked every plan and price on pdfFiller's own pricing page, and Adobe Acrobat's, on October 19, 2026.

What is pdfFiller?

pdfFiller is an all-in-one online document platform for solopreneurs and small and mid-sized businesses. It covers editing, signing, sending for signature, converting, storing, collaborating and merging, so you're not bouncing between three or four tools to get one document out the door.

Over 60 million people have used it, and that's a big number. It runs entirely in the cloud, which means you could open your documents from a desktop, phone or tablet without installing anything, and no file gets stuck on one machine.

Who pdfFiller is for (and who it isn't for)

pdfFiller fits small businesses that send, edit and sign PDFs every week and want one tool for all of it.

Pick pdfFiller if:

  • You're a solo owner or freelancer sending contracts, invoices or agreements on a regular basis

  • You work in real estate and live in lease agreements, disclosure forms and purchase contracts

  • You run a medical practice and need HIPAA-compliant patient intake and authorization forms

  • You're in legal or financial services and need audit trails and legally binding e-signatures

  • You want clients to sign without creating an account

Look elsewhere if:

  • You only open and read PDFs. A free viewer does that.

  • You'll pay month to month. At $40 a month, Premium costs more than Adobe Acrobat Pro on the same billing.

  • You need faxing included. Fax is a paid add-on on every plan.

  • You mainly need web forms and surveys, not PDFs. A form builder fits better, and I compared a few in my Google Forms alternatives post.

pdfFiller's key features

1. A PDF editor that changes the real text

pdfFiller lets you edit the existing text inside a PDF, the same way you would in a Word document. You could swap out names, update dates, change prices and rewrite contract language.

And that's a big deal. A lot of PDF editors only let you type a new layer of text on top of the page. They don't let you change the document itself.

Beyond text, you could:

  • Add images, annotate, highlight and draw

  • Black out sensitive information

  • Apply custom stamps

  • Merge several PDFs into one package, or split one into pieces for different recipients

  • Rearrange pages, or pull out specific pages without touching the rest of the file

Once you start making a lot of edits, you need versions. pdfFiller has version comparison built in, so you could put two versions of a document side by side and see exactly what changed, line by line.

2. AI document creation and a 2-million-form library

pdfFiller's AI builds a document or smart form from a plain description. You describe the type of document, the fields you want and the purpose, and it generates a professional draft. That means no blank page and no fighting with formatting.

If you'd rather start from a template, the library holds, get this, over 2 million pre-configured business forms. We're talking about invoices, lease agreements, NDAs and HR onboarding documents of every kind. The template library was one of the core things I loved about the tool. If your business uses a document regularly, there's almost certainly a starting point waiting for you in there.

3. E-signatures with signing order and LinkToFill

pdfFiller's e-signatures are legally binding, certificate-backed and built for real business use. You could send a document for signature and set a role-based signing order. Think of a contract that goes to the client first, then your manager, then back to you.

You could track the status of every document and get real-time notifications when someone signs. Most companies pay for a separate tool to do this. On Premium, the e-signature workflows run on signNow, which is included with the plan.

The feature I'd point out for client work is LinkToFill. You turn any document into a shareable web link and collect signatures or form data from anyone, and they don't need a pdfFiller account. Think of a new client intake form, a service agreement or a liability waiver. Instead of emailing a PDF and hoping the client figures out how to sign it and send it back, you send a link and they fill it out right in their browser. And that means you get a legally backed, signed document from a single link.

Premium also adds custom branding to the signing experience, so the whole thing looks like your business instead of a generic form.

If you already use signNow, I walked through how to connect SignNow to Claude AI in a separate post.

4. Storage, sharing and collaboration

Your documents live in a centralized, encrypted vault you could open from any device. You organize everything with smart tags and folders, which matters once you're managing a high volume of documents and signatures.

You could share folders and documents with teammates inside the platform and leave comments, without sending files back and forth over email. For a small team that wants to stay organized without buying an enterprise document management system, this covers a lot of ground.

5. Conversions in both directions

pdfFiller converts PDFs to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG and PNG, and converts Word and PowerPoint files back into PDFs. That means you're not uploading files to some random conversion website. You do it right inside the software.

6. Integrations

pdfFiller connects with Google Drive, Dropbox and Google Workspace. It slides into the workflow you already have, so you don't reorganize everything around a new tool. Zapier and custom cloud integrations are listed on the Premium for Enterprise plan.

7. Security and compliance

pdfFiller is GDPR compliant, HIPAA compliant and SOC 2 Type II certified. Every signed document comes with a verified audit trail and a digital certificate. Files are stored on Amazon S3 servers with 256-bit encryption.

If you handle patient records, financial documents or legal agreements, this is the level of security you need. For healthcare, the HIPAA compliance is built in rather than sold as an enterprise-only add-on.

8. 24/7 human support

pdfFiller offers 24/7 live support from real people, not a chatbot or a help article. Response times depend on your plan: within a day on Basic, within 30 minutes on Plus, and instant chat on Premium. That kind of availability at this price is rare.

pdfFiller pricing (checked October 19, 2026)

pdfFiller has three individual plans: Basic ($8/mo), Plus ($12/mo) and Premium ($15/mo) on annual billing. Month to month, they cost $20, $30 and $40. Paying annually saves you 60% to 70%.

What it adds

Basic

$8/mo (about $96/yr)

$20/mo

Full PDF editor: edit text, draw, highlight, black out, merge and rearrange pages, PDF to Word, print and save. Support within a day.

Plus

$12/mo (about $144/yr)

$30/mo

Everything in Basic, plus reusable templates, fillable fields, version restore, smart tags and folders, password protection, hosted online forms, iOS and Android apps. Support within 30 minutes.

Premium

$15/mo (about $180/yr)

$40/mo

Everything in Plus, plus signNow e-signature workflows, custom branding, web-form data collection, payment collection, the US Legal Forms library (over 85,000 legal forms) and instant chat support.

Prices from pdffiller.com, US dollars, per user. Faxing is extra on every plan: $19.99/mo on Basic, $14.99/mo on Plus, $9.99/mo on Premium. Confirm before you buy, since pricing changes.

Teams of 10 or more can ask sales about the enterprise plans. Premium for Enterprise starts at $15 per user per month with a 10-user minimum and adds SSO, Zapier, a 99.9% uptime SLA and custom cloud integrations.

Which plan should you pick?

  • Basic is for you if you need a reliable PDF editor and don't need e-signature workflows. At $8 a month, it's hard to argue with.

  • Plus is the plan I'd say most people will get the most out of. Basic is strictly a PDF editor, and Plus adds templates, fillable forms and mobile apps for a small or mid-sized business.

  • Premium is where you want to be if you send contracts, collect signatures or manage formal document workflows.

The gap is big. One Premium user pays $300 more per year on monthly billing, so if you're keeping it past the trial, go annual.

pdfFiller vs Adobe Acrobat

pdfFiller's Premium plan costs about the same as Adobe's entry-level Acrobat Standard on annual billing, and it bundles e-signature workflows, templates, legal forms and branding. Adobe Acrobat is a powerful product. Nobody disputes that. Here's how the live prices compare.

Something that always makes me wary of software is a hard cancellation. If you look on Reddit threads and YouTube, you'll find a lot of users saying it was difficult to get out of their Adobe plan. Adobe's own pricing page says the annual, billed-monthly plan charges a fee of up to half your remaining commitment if you cancel after 14 days.

pdfFiller's refund policy is 180 days. Not 14 days or 30 days, 180 days. I don't know any other brand that offers that.

Pick pdfFiller if you want editing, e-signatures and templates in one subscription and you'll pay annually. Pick Acrobat if you'll pay month to month, since Acrobat Pro is $10 a month cheaper than pdfFiller Premium on that billing.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Edits the real text inside a PDF, rather than adding a layer on top

  • Over 2 million templates, plus AI that drafts documents and forms from a description

  • LinkToFill collects signatures from people who don't have an account

  • Role-based signing order, real-time status and audit trails

  • HIPAA, GDPR and SOC 2 Type II on the security side

  • 24/7 live human support

  • A 180-day refund window and a 30-day free trial

  • Low annual pricing, from $8 a month

Cons:

  • Month-to-month pricing is steep: Premium jumps from $15 to $40, which is more than Acrobat Pro

  • Faxing costs extra on every plan

  • Basic has no templates, fillable fields or mobile apps

  • E-signature workflows and branding are Premium-only

  • Zapier is listed only on the enterprise plan, not the individual plans

My final take

If you're editing, creating, signing, sending, converting or storing PDFs in any shape or form, you need one place to manage it all, and pdfFiller is a great option for that. The text editing, the template library and LinkToFill solve the everyday document problems small businesses hit. Plus at $12 a month fits most people, and Premium at $15 a month is the one to pick if you collect signatures.

Just commit to annual billing. Month to month, the math flips in Adobe's favor.
